CUTTING EDGE

URBAN POP ART

Brad Novak (aka New Blood Pop) is an internationally-renowned urban pop culture artist whose work sits sharply at the nexus between fine art and street art. His preferred techniques include collage and spray paint set upon a background of self-selected street and popular culture imagery.

Novak is the 1st artist in New Zealand’s history to exhibit in the same show with global superstars such as Warhol, Haring, Lichtenstein, Mr. Brainwash, OBEY and BANKSY (Toronto, 2015).

Novak currently shows internationally with galleries in the USA, Canada, UK, and NZ.

NEVER GROW UP

NEVER STOP DREAMING

I SEE BRAD
AS A KINDRED SPIRIT

MICHAEL SMITHER CNZM

“One of the reasons I took Brad seriously is his exploration of ideas and his expression of them with contemporary imagery”.

“Despite our contrasting styles, we both share similar values, with empathy and depth in our work”.

KEEP YOUR CHILDHOOD DREAMS ALIVE

By redeploying urban elements, and techniques, with influence from his medical background, Novak has created a new artistic dialogue.

This is evident in the way he titles his works, which are descriptive in nature but also bookended with a scientific ‘code’. This is one area in which both his analytical and creative minds clearly meet.

"My art is not me... but rather a reflection of who I am and the dialogue I want to put out into the world. The real magic happens when others connect with that!"

BRAD, LOVE THESE BIRDS. GOOD ON YA!

QUENTIN TARANTINO

Quentin Tarantino acquired one of Novak’s Reservoir Birds screen-prints (inspired by his movie Reservoir Dogs) for his personal collection.

Tarantino also gave one to his colleague, stuntwoman and actor, Zoe Bell.

To top it off, Quentin signed one of the prints with a personal message to the artist.
