New Blood Pop is thrilled to announce his first ever solo show in the South Island of New Zealand, with the established & respected Diversion Gallery in Picton.
Titled 'The Digital Dilemma' this body of work will further investigate the pros and cons of an ever-increasing technological age. Novak first used this term around 2008 with the recent advent of the 'smart' phone, but he admits he could never have foreseen the extreme changes that were to follow so quickly.
Barbara Speedy (Diversion Gallery) has helped bring together a group of works (including brand new pieces) that the artist hopes will convey not only his concern for the way the world is heading, but also hope that we can find balance amongst new possibilities:
"Much of this work deals with juxtaposition. Famous icons look out at the world through a monocular tech lens... covering just one eye. A reminder that we also need to live life through the 'uncovered eye'... from an authentic analogue perspective. With the advent of AI, I believe it is even more urgent for us to not fully lose the type of world we grew up in!"
- Brad Novak
The show opens at 4pm on Sunday the 19th of October, at The Diversion Gallery in Picton.
Brad will be in attendance and looks forward to sharing these works and discussing all things art (or life) with those who so wish! The show runs for 3 weeks so get along and see a cutting-edge-take on our ever-changing world in as beautiful a seaside setting as you'll find!
