About this work
Inspired by Mr Quentin Tarantino's celebrated cult movie 'Reservoir Dogs', Novak has grounded the famous scene uniquely within Aotearoa New Zealand by using the Kiwi, Whio (Blue Duck), Shag, Tui, Huia, and Albatross.
In the artist's words: "There is a deeper meaning behind this pop art image... many of the birds of NZ are under threat (and some are extinct) and that is something they have in common, much like their matching black and white suits."
